first collages of 2011

I’ve started to work on  smaller 4 x 6 cards. This requires less paper but allows for the same compositional experimentation. Production time is also shorter so . . . win win?

Summer Light

Taken this past summer with the Sabre 620. Most of them are out of focus with a light leak here and there, but when grouped together they feel like cool country evening in august.

Sabre 620 mysteries revealed . . . oops

This film has been sitting in the camera for almost 5 years . . . i finally got it developed today and found mostly light leaks and shaky accidents. Although none of the subjects are clear, the shots turned into happy accidents resulting in something between a ghostly encounter and a hazy daydream. Particularly the first composition . . .

Chinatown walk NYC

A saturday morning walk from brooklyn to chinatown . . . funny how I arrive in New York and go straight to Chinatown. It was comforting, I was even tempted to haggle on my purchases but i caught myself and paid the asking price.

July 1st 2010 Collage

moon. shadow. leaves. light.

A creative burst and an outstanding night of photographic experimentation. A collaboration between myself and miss Trina Opp using all sorts of borrowed items and light sources. Many thanks to Karen Miyano and Leland Miyano for letting us take over your garden (a mind-boggling jaw-dropping amazing place) with our cameras and equipment.

the sabre 620 camera

I bought the sabre 620 camera about 5 years ago in city island (mine looks pretty much like the image except avocado green) and have only shot one role of film on it in that entire time. Here are some shots from that one and only roll. Its been sitting in storage for almost 3 out of those 5 years so I’m going to make a point to experiment with it this summer while days are long and the light is bright.

roadside cafe

You can drink your coffee beside neon lit fish tanks enclosed in plexi cells. The coffee was excellent as was the decor.

schools and swarms

After painting schools of fish for an undersea mural, i can’t seem to stop drawing schools / swarms of dots on pretty much anything i find. It may turn to madness, case and point the last example of dots on collage . . .

background textures

Some collaged textures for a new project. Maybe as fill for background shapes . . . more clarity to come.

Film I shot in Vung Tau. Bear in mind that even though you see pants / sweaters / face masks / helmets the temperature was more like a blazing 91 degrees fahrenheit.
